Soap fans are in for some changes in the coming weeks after ITV and the BBC announced scheduling shakeups.
Emmerdale's transmission time is changing and the BBC has confirmed a new schedule for its flagship soap.
Coronation Street is also getting extended episodes as part of the plans.
Fans of Emmerdale can expect drama as cousins Charity and Chas Dingle declare a family war in what is being described as a new era for the soap as it celebrates its 50th year.
The ITV soap will now be shown from 7.30pm each weekday as part of a wider channel change, which will see the ITV news extended to an hour programme and Coronation Street moved to the 8pm slot on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The changes were announced by ITV in January as Coronation Street is extended to hour-long episodes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm, while Emmerdale's new 7.30pm slot will mean a time clash with BBC soap EastEnders for live audiences..
The BBC announced earlier this month that EastEnders will change to a “new simplified schedule” from March.
The soap will air on BBC One at 7.30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from March 7. EastEnders continues on the BBC and BBC iPlayer.
Ahead of the changes, Emmerdale bosses have teased some exciting family drama as the fall out from the Woolpack pub purchase and the Meena storyline continues.
Meanwhile, Coronation Street producers have promised the upcoming season will be filled with “drama, humour, twists and intrigue” in new hour-long time slots.
