New Edinburgh CCTV shared of missing man who vanished with 'one shoe on'

Police have shared new CCTV images of missing Edinburgh man Steven Deans as they continue their efforts to trace the 57-year-old.

Reported missing earlier this week, officers are now hoping to find the owner of a silver car that had driven past Steven as he walked through South Queensferry.

Lat seen walking on Soceity Road wearing "one shoe", around 10.30am on Tuesday, 25 October, Steven Deans left his home in Springfield Lea and walked along the road under the Queensferry Crossing, heading west.

He is described as 6ft 3ins, of medium build, and bald. He was wearing dark denim jeans, a blue long-sleeve t-shirt, a dark blue denim jacket and only one black Sketcher shoe. He had a white sock on his other foot.

Inspector Scott Casey said: “Steven has been missing for some days now. This is completely out of character and concerns are growing for his welfare. He walked along Society Road and I am asking anyone in the area who may have seen him to get in touch.

“We know from our enquiries that he walked under the Queensferry Crossing and sat on a wall near to the bridge. When he was there a silver car drove past him in the direction of South Queensferry and we are appealing for the driver to get in touch as they may have vital information that could help us to find Steven.

“The area is also popular with dog walkers, joggers, cyclists and wild swimmers. I am asking anyone who was there from 10.30am onwards, to try to remember if they might have seen Steven. Although he was wearing dark coloured clothes, he was quite distinctive as he had only one shoe on and a white sock on his other foot.

“Our enquiries also suggest there were people on the shoreline near Hopetoun Bank around 11am, possibly swimmers, who might have seen Steven and we are keen to speak to them.

“I am also asking people to check sheds and outbuildings in case Steven has sought shelter.

“Please think back and get in touch with us if you have any information, no matter how small, that could help us to find Steven. Call us on 101, quoting reference1412 of Tuesday, 25 October, 2022.”
