New Dunelm superstore set to open at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol - everything you need to know

Bristol has welcomed a number of cracking new shops this year, but few have sparked as much excitement as the new Dunelm superstore.

The popular home furnishing retailer is opening its second branch in the city today (December 12), in the unit formerly occupied by the defunct Toys R Us at Cribbs Causeway.

Launching just in time for Christmas, people are expected to head to the store in their droves, eager for the doors to open at 9am.

It became apparent a new Dunelm store was set to open in Bristol in November 2018, when a now-expired online job advert for sales assistants revealed plans to assemble a new team ready for the launch.

At the time it was unclear when the store would open, but signs appeared outside it in October stating it was set to launch on Thursday, December 12, causing plenty of excitement among shoppers all over the city.

Dunelm's other Bristol store is located at the Tramway Retail Park in Brislington.

Dunelm was founded in 1979 by Bill Adderley and Jeany Adderley, trading in home textiles from a market stall in Leicester.

The first Dunelm store opened in Churchgate Leicester in 1984, with the first superstore opening in Rotherham in 1991.

As of June 30 last year, Dunelm operated 169 stores across the UK.

Bristol Live has contacted Dunelm's press office for more information about the new store and is awaiting a response.
