The Cleveland Browns continued overhauling their defensive line last week when they signed defensive tackle Shelby Harris. Pairing him with Dalvin Tomlinson will create a night-and-day difference from what Cleveland had on the interior defensive line last season.
Harris spoke about how he believes of the teams pursuing his services the Browns presented the best chance to win. He also spoke about his excitement to play for Jim Schwartz and his defensive line-friendly scheme.
“I felt like out of all the teams I was talking to they’re the most primed to win. How can I turn down the chance to play with those guys up front and playing in Coach Schwartz’ defense?…It’s truly a D-lineman’s dream to play in.”
Much has been made about the Jim Schwartz hiring for the Browns. Quotes like this further the belief that Schwartz is well respected and people want to play for him. This new scheme now has the tools to make it work and the Schwartz hiring is already paying off for Cleveland.
