New Draft Wire mock sees Jets trade down in round one, land Broderick Jones

With the college all-star circuit just about wrapped up and the Scouting Combine right around the corner, people are starting to get an idea about the buzz on draft prospects and which ones are starting to move up draft boards.

With that, our friends at Draft Wire whipped up another mock draft with practices at the Senior Bowl wrapped up. In his latest projection, Luke Easterling has the Jets making a trade in the first round, swapping picks with the Washington Commanders to move down to the No. 16. They are still able to land Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones with the pick to help fortify the offensive line.

After sliding back a few spots, the Jets are able to get better value while filling their biggest need at offensive tackle. Jones has a great blend of athleticism, physicality, and polished technique, and would bring plenty of championship experience to a promising roster.

Gaining a likely mid-round pick and still getting one of the top offensive tackles in this class would be a win-win scenario for the Jets. Jones is incredible and powerful for his size and would help form a strong bookend pairing up front for the Jets along with whoever the Jets put on the other side.

In the second round of Easterling’s two-round mock, the Jets go defense with Texas A&M safety Antonio Johnson. The former Aggie has seen time at safety, slot corner and linebacker. He is versatile and a hard tackler. He would add to what is already a physical defense for the Jets.
