A SCOTTISH transport firm has launched a brand-new direct bus service connecting Aberdeen’s city centre to Edinburgh Airport.
The McGill's Bus Group said its new “fly” service will launch on Monday, April 28, marking a “significant milestone” in the firm's transport links.
The Greenock-based company said it expanded its service following the “overwhelming success” of its similar service linking Edinburgh Airport and Dundee.
Fly Aberdeen will operate eight daily services in each direction between Aberdeen city centre and the terminal doors of Edinburgh Airport.
McGill's Bus Group is owned by brothers Sandy and James Easdale, and operates local services in Dundee, Stirling, Falkirk and West Lothian in addition to its long-established networks in Inverclyde, Renfrewshire and greater Glasgow.
In November, the transport company began running a single local route in Aberdeen, while it also operates an airport link and sightseeing services in Edinburgh.
Tony Williamson, chief executive of the McGill’s Group, hopes the Fly Aberdeen service will bring Scottish communities “closer” to the world.
He said: “The launch of Fly Aberdeen marks a significant milestone in McGill’s Group’s strategic journey to strengthen transport connectivity across Scotland and beyond.
“As we continue to invest in award-winning local services and grow our national footprint through valued partnerships like FlixBus, our focus remains clear: To deliver innovative, integrated travel solutions that meet the evolving needs of passengers.
“Fly Aberdeen is the next step in that journey – enhancing airport accessibility and bringing communities closer to the world.”
McGill's Bus Group also runs long-distance services in partnership with the global Flixbus brand, linking Glasgow with Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness, Manchester and London, as well as coach tour holidays under the Loch Lomond Travel brand.
