Newcastle United are staying cool in their hunt for Diego Carlos - despite finding themselves in the middle of some transfer brinkmanship with the Spanish club.
Chronicle Live understands that Newcastle are still very much in discussions over his transfer amid mixed messages coming from Seville.
United's last offer of €36million was rejected by Sevilla who, like Lille with Sven Botman, have now announced their sought after target is staying at the La Liga club until the end of the season.
Sevilla assistant boss Pablo Sanz said:" I think Diego Carlos will be until the end of the season."

Carlos made a remark after the 1-1 draw with Valencia last night that suggested talks had stalled with the Magpies as he declared he will stay with Sevilla.
He emerged after playing for Sevilla to say to Spain's popular Ultima Hora show: "I have a lot of time left here (in Seville)."
However, the aftermath of his post-game comments resulted in him taking to social media to try to laugh off the morning reports.
Meanwhile, at Newcastle the negotiations continue as they ask Sevilla to name their price.
Unfortunately, the deal now looks unlikely to be completed in time for the clash at Leeds with no fee agreed.
United are prepared to stay cool in the negotiations but Eddie Howe did state last week: "We certainly don't have a blank cheque. We are trying to be smart to bring in the right players at the right price.
"If you see a player coming for purely financial gain, it won't work, but you also need very good players so it's a delicate combination for me to figure out."
