New dessert cafe with 34-page menu opens in Beeston

Beeston has become a whole lot sweeter after the opening of a new dessert cafe in the town. Rassam's Creamery has welcomed its first customers to the venue at the £50million Beeston Square development.

The cafe has a huge 34-page menu which includes waffles, pancakes, ice creams, cookie dough and milkshakes. The dessert parlour will be open daily from 11am until late for anyone wanting a sugar fix.

Already an established name around Yorkshire, this will be the company’s eighth restaurant, and the first outside its home county. Founder Rassam Ali said: "Beeston has such a thriving and growing community and we knew that Nottingham was more than perfect for our next venture.

"With such a diverse community that is thriving with dessert lovers all round, with the youth, students and families that populate this fine city, it means we can offer something new and exciting that we believe people would first be introduced to. It has taken us a long time to perfect this branch to match our unimaginable standards that we hold dear to our hearts.

"We have exceeded our budget three times to perfect our visions of the most luxurious restaurant that we plan to surprise the people of Beeston with." The Beeston Square development, masterminded by Broxtowe Borough Council, is home to the Arc Cinema and The Beeston Social and until recently Ottimo, the 150-seater Italian restaurant which closed down suddenly at the end of November.

Rassam was 14 when he started helping his father in the family business - and after finishing college he purchased the business from his dad after saving every penny he ever earned. Having his own corner shop he sold variety of products.

However, a trip to his birth country Yemen to see his family changed his career path. There he saw a milkshake store which caught his eye and inspired him to replicate the idea in his grocery store using a blender, some ice cream and other ingredients to produce a milkshake. He went on to open his first dessert bar in 2012 in Sheffield with the help of friends Irfan Mohammed and Alawi Alyazidi.
