New dating app where you only speak to one person at a time and can't ghost people

A new dating app has launched that only allows you to speak to one person at a time, and where you can't ghost people.

Tame describes itself as a dating app that favours human connections, and has an unusual set of rules. The app only allows you to speak to one match at a time, and you won't be able to view other profiles once you are in a conversation with someone.

The app also removes the possibility of being ghosted, as users have to justify why they're ending a conversation with someone, and won't be able to browse other profiles until they do so. The app intends to foster a pleasant experience for everyone, and describes itself as 'the healthy dating app'.

Tame will only be available for a price, and users will have to pay a subscription fee, although if users have an active subscription and no matches, their subscription will be available for free. For people interested in joining, you may have to join a waiting list as the app maintains a fair ratio between genders.

It could be perfect for people who have had bad experiences on other sites, because users will have to go through a security check before creating a profile, limiting the number of fake profiles. They also have a zero tolerance on bad behaviour, and claim they will investigate every report that's filed.

You will also only see active users when looking through profiles, and anyone who hasn't used the app in over seven days will not appear to other users. When looking through profiles, you can say goodbye to usual swiping methods, and instead each user will create a set of questions which other users have to answers in order to show their interest.

Tame says: "With long-term use [of dating apps and other social networks], many of us started feeling isolated rather than connected. The likes, the followers, the influencer culture, the constant comparison all challenge and destabilize our self-esteem.

"Our capacity for conversation is damaged when none can be held accountable. [Swiping] reduces a human being down to a single photo, begging you to take your decision as fast as possible to discover who the next best person might be.

"Dating apps' main aim should be to spark “real-life” human connection, so the successful dating app is the one you would use for the shortest amount of time.

"This is where Tame comes into play, we studied the downsides of current online dating platforms, and decided to try and do better: We're bringing the desire to spark human connection back to the heart of our project."
