New dates for Manchester United and Man City games confirmed as Premier League issues apology

Manchester United and Man City have been given a degree of Premier League fixture clarity ahead of the run-in.

United's games with Brighton and West Ham United have been handed new dates while the Man City's fixtures with the Hammers and Leeds United have been confirmed.

Erik ten Hag's side face a fixture pile-up in the final months of the season due to their progress in the cup competitions. United won the Carabao Cup earlier this term and are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and the last eight of the Europa League.

It means they face a hectic final two months of the campaign as they chase two further trophies plus a top four spot in the Premier League. United's game with Brighton, postponed as it clashed with the FA Cup quarter finals, has now been rearranged.

The trip to the Amex will take place on Thursday, May 4 with an 8pm kick off and be shown live on Sky Sports. As a result, United's game at West Ham has been moved to Sunday, May 7. That game will kick off at 7pm and be broadcast on BT Sport.

United's Premier League game at home to Chelsea, originally scheduled for April 22 but called off due to United being in FA Cup semi-final action, is yet to be allocated a new date.

Meanwhile, City will face West Ham at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, May 3 (8pm) with Sky Sports screening the game. Pep Guardiola's side will then travel to Leeds on Sunday, May 7, for a 2pm kick off although that game is subject to City's potential Champions League commitments the following midweek and so could yet move again.

The Premier League confirmed the schedule for the first week of May on Thursday, apologising to supporters for the delay in announcing the fixtures. The league said finalising the games took longer than expected due to complications around the scheduling on the weekend of the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort.

The Premier League also confirmed revised provisional announcement dates for match-weeks 36 and 37 have been set for 6 April and 14 April, respectively, meaning the next round of fixtures will be played before any further fixture alterations are made, to aid planning.
