New Dalbeattie mural depicts important part of town's history

A stunning new mural has appeared in Dalbeattie depicting an important part of the town’s history.

Mural artist Mark Worst has created the depiction of a Skeoch car on a building in Millisle – where the original Skeoch car was built in the early 1900s.

In recent years, members of Dalbeattie Men’s Shed have built a replica of the vintage car which was unveiled last year to mark the vehicle’s centenary.

The James Baird Skeoch cycle car was put into production at Millisle, with the mural on the end of a building close to where the original was created.

But only a handful of the two-seater cars were built before the building was destroyed by fire, putting the Burnside Motor Company out of existence.

This is not the first artwork Mark has created in Dalbeattie.

In 2019 he transformed a wall at Paterson ATV into a mural featuring the firm’s founder James Paterson.
