New Covid cases soar above 25,000 Thursday

Thailand logged 25,456 new Covid-19 cases during the previous 24 hours, the most ever save for the 25,615 announced on Feb 26th, the Public Health Ministry announced on Thursday morning.

There were 77 more fatalities, a record high in the latest wave.

Only 39 of the 25,456 new cases were detected in arrivals from other countries.

Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 3,276,098 Covid-19 cases, including 1,052,663 this year, with 3,026,969 complete recoveries to date.

The death toll stood at 23,995 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 2,297 so far this year.

The highest number of Covid-related fatalities in a 24-hour period was 312 recorded on Aug 13, 2021. The highest number of cases was 25,615 on Feb 26.
