Rushcliffe's new Conservative MP knows she has big Hush Puppies to fill as she takes the place of former Father of the House Ken Clarke who served the area for nearly 50 years.
The Tories managed to hold off the challenge of Labour following the departure of Ken Clarke - famed for his love of the shoe brand Hush Puppies - with Ruth Edwards winning with only a slightly reduced majority of 7,643.
Her key aims for the borough, which voted remain during the EU Referendum in 2016, was for the government to deliver on Brexit and increase investment in police, schools and healthcare.
Mrs Edwards said: "I am very proud to be Rushcliffe's new MP and I promise to be a listening MP, an effective MP in Westminster and one who puts this fantastic constituency first.
"People have given me their trust and I am aware of the huge responsibility I now have. I will work hard for each and every one of them to the absolute best of my ability.
"The Prime Minister was completely right to say he was humbled by the faith voters have put in his government and I feel exactly the same.
"We must now form a People’s Government and deliver on Brexit, deliver on even better public services and make sure this country can heal its divisions, continue to prosper and regain its trust in politicians."
Mrs Edwards said from speaking to residents in the borough she wants to make sure she delivers on getting more police on the streets and providing more investment in health centres - particularly in East Leake and Radcliffe on Trent due to the increases in demand from new housing being built.
"I also want to see more investment in our schools and a big focus on protecting our environment with helping the UK become a leader in the green economy," she added.
"I would also like to thank my opponents Cheryl, Jason, Matthew and John and their teams, as well as my own fantastic supporters.
"Democracy is precious and anyone who believes in their cause to the point they're prepared to pound the streets in the cold and wet to take their message to voters deserve the utmost credit. I wish them the very best for the future."
