New commemorative FA Cup coin available at The Royal Mint from £10 to £1,125

2022 marks a special year for one of the world's most famous sporting competitions.

The FA Cup is officially 150 years old, and to commemorate that fact The Royal Mint have are today beginning to distribute limited edition coins.

Available now on from The Royal Mint, four varieties of the coin have been minted including a special silver edition that will be used for the toss in this year's final on May 14.

The coins - inscribed with the words "FOOTBALL'S GREATEST CUP COMPETITION" - range in price between £10 and £1,125.

Demand for the coin has been high and queues of up to 1,000 people were waiting to enter The Royal Mint website on the morning of its February 14 release date.

As always, this year's FA Cup competition hasn't disappointed when it comes to drama and 'giant killings'.

12-time winners Manchester United fell to Championship side Middlesbrough, while non-league Boreham Wood - the story of the tournament so far - head to Goodison Park in the 5th round following victories over AFC Wimbledon and Bournemouth.

The new FA Cup collection is in keeping with The Royal Mint's history of producing coins based on quintessentially British subjects. Other collections inspired by everything from Queen to Winnie The Pooh are also available.
