New chief executive at PM Connect and more appointment news

A mobile payments firm has welcomed a new chief executive as part of changes to its senior team.

Longbridge-based PM Connect has appointed Kevin Dawson as group chief executive, bringing with him more than 20 years of industry experience.

Starting his career at Orange, Mr Dawson has held positions at 3Com, TalkTalk and Vodafone before joining Dynamic Mobile Billing where he worked for 11 years including five as chief executive.

The appointment is part of a newly revamped executive team that sees the company's co-founder James Macfarlane move to the role of president.

He said: "I am very proud of the growth and development PM Connect has experienced during my time as chief executive as we deliver on our mission of making in-demand content accessible to all. I am even more excited about the coming years and bringing Kevin on board will help catalyse that vision.

"I have known Kevin for a long time as an industry peer and am delighted with the prospect of working with him to help drive us to new heights."

Mr Dawson added: "I am very much looking forward to working closely with the team to help further develop a vibrant, energetic and market-leading business."

Sanjay Mistry will also be joining the firm as chief technology officer, having worked at Infomedia for more than 17 years.

In other appointment news, the corporate lending team at Shawbrook Bank in Birmingham has appointed Ian Bath as senior director and Amy Beasley as director.

Mr Bath has more than 35 years of experience in senior debt and asset-based lending, gained from roles with various high street banks and other lenders including Nucleus Commercial Finance, Lloyds and RBS.

Ms Beasley previously worked at HSBC where she was a relationship director, overseeing a portfolio and building a base of new customers, prior to which she specialised in business development at companies including Frontier Development Capital and Mazars in Birmingham.

Medilink Midlands, the region's life sciences trade association, has appointed Simon Himsworth as its new chief executive while his predecessor Darren Clark has become deputy chairman.

Mr Himsworth was most recently a senior manager with BioPhorum. In addition, Melanie Davidson has also been promoted to chief operating officer.

Full service law firm Shakespeare Martineau has welcomed new partner Aasha Choudhary to its family team in Birmingham.

She specialises in high-value, complex financial matters, often with significant international elements, including assets abroad, jurisdiction disputes and third-party interveners.

Ms Choudhary brings more 13 years of experience including eight years with Mills & Reeve where she worked her way up from associate to principal associate alongside spells with George Green and Challinors.

Worcestershire communications agency Conteur has added four new faces to its team.

Zarina Kapasi has taken up the role of business development manager, leading on building new business relationships and bringing 15 years of media industry experience to the role.

Sheridan Courtney has joined the team as video editor after three years with University of Worcester and Faye Tomkotowicz is Conteur's new PR account manager, bringing five years of PR experience to the Worcester-based firm.

Completing the new recruits is Heti Morus who is the agency's new PR account executive.

Midlands law firm Lodders has appointed Elaine Morgan as legal director and the head of its new trusts and tax team in its Stratford office.

She has more than 20 years of trusts and tax experience from senior roles in legal and accountancy firms that has given her blended and extensive specialist knowledge in trust management and advice.

She has worked with high net worth clients, particularly administering the trusts set up from landed estates and family trusts, undertaking pre-death and administration tax on estates matters.

She joins Lodders after six years with HCR Hewitsons in Northampton.

Birmingham-based Anthony Collins Solicitors has appointed a new partner to its local government team.

Claire Ward has more than 19 years of legal experience, most recently as monitoring officer and director of governance and legal services at Herefordshire Council where she also served as acting deputy chief executive.

Prior to her role in Herefordshire, she worked for Cumbria County Council after qualifying as a solicitor.

In her new role, she will support local authorities nationwide and advise council monitoring officers.
