New business set to take over vacant Rutherglen premises

An award-winning family business are to take over vacant premises in Lanarkshire.

Renewable energy company BRB will move into Thomson Court in Rutherglen later this month.

The business supplies and fits a range of industry-leading renewable energy efficiency measures, including air source heat pump systems, solar photovoltaic systems and home battery storage, as well as installing gas condensing boilers.

The company recently successfully tendered to work with South Lanarkshire Council over the next few years to provide new energy efficient heating systems such as air source heat pumps and gas central heating, and made the decision to take on a new base in the Lanarkshire region.

A company spokesperson said: "BRB consistently aims to minimise any negative environmental impact resulting from its work and as part of this move will introduce renewable energy to their new premises, reducing carbon emissions.

"The move enables a local supply chain/local sub-contractor base to be set up, further reducing the carbon footprint.

"In improving sustainability, BRB is also currently replacing its vehicle fleet with lower emission engine vehicles, installing electric charging points as it introduces electric vehicles and reducing paper use by introducing new administration and client management systems.

"As a social housing provider, South Lanarkshire Council is committed to providing warm, comfortable homes for its tenants. BRB is pleased to be working with them again.

"Several of BRB’s staff are from the South Lanarkshire area. In addition, the company is fully committed to supporting skills development in the renewable energy sector and regularly creates meaningful opportunities for young people to achieve their full potential, including currently employing 10 apprentices.

"Establishing a new base in the area will provide another strong foundation for the team and the business to grow and develop over the coming years."

No new jobs will be created immediately, but the company confirmed they hope to expand in the future.

As well as working with the council and their tenants, BRB delivers its services to homeowners and private landlords.

Further details on their work can be found here.
