A woman behind new plans for a new bistro bar in Chester has been inundated with support after she urged people to 'please be kind'. It came after criticism of her plans, with some claiming there are already too many new venues in the area.
The plans were announced by Jackie Speed last month. She wants to pursue her dreams by opening JAK in Chester city centre. In a post on social media, she said businesses in the area are having to 'adapt' at a 'time of uncertainty'.
Ms Speed said that while Chester may not be the 'retail heaven some dream of', it has plenty of independent venues offering a 'social scene', CheshireLive reports. Many people wished her good luck and hit back at those being critical.

Jason Davis said: "I say 'good on ya!'. You only buy clothes and shoes once, but everyone enjoys going out for lunch, dinner or just a coffee or a social drink in the evenings or after work. This employs people too both during the day and nights."
Philip Bradley said: "Summat wrong with folk moaning about a new venue , should be grateful someone enterprising is brave enough to take it on in these hard times for many. Good luck Jackie , take no notice of the misery guts."
Clair Eeley added: "Jackie I wish you well I have run café at the walls for 10.5 years it is getting harder each year since covid and the cost of living, but it was my dream."
Paul Geddes said: "People who criticise are normally the ones who've never done anything themselves, never had a dream. Never support just sit and moan. The high street has changed and will continue to change, rather this lady following her dream than another empty shop. Hope it works out for her."
