The first customers at a new B&M store at Castle Marina Retail Park have given the shop a big thumbs up. The retailer 's new branch opened its doors at on 9am and contains health and beauty products, homeware, electricals, DIY essentials, toys, games and gifts. There are also plans to launch a garden centre in store at a later date.
Paul Singh and Joanne Palethorpe were out for a walk and spotted the store was open so popped in to grab some bargains. Joanne said: "It’s brilliant. We’ve only done half. They cater for everything. I can’t wait until the gardening bit opens."
Paula Wilson, who is first in the opening queue, said: "We do have B&Ms near us but I’ve never been to an opening before. There’s often things that I want and I go and they’re not there so I’m hoping to see a few bits I’ve missed out on. They sell such a varied amount of things at a really reasonable price. I can’t believe the size of it. I wasn’t expecting it to be this big."

Ms Wilson lives in Derbyshire but works at a nearby at an eyewear company and had made the trip on her day off. The store opened shortly before 9am and a few eager customers are already browsing the aisles which took 20 days to fill.
The brand has that the new shop will create more than 68 jobs for local people at the site. B&M said that customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded groceries for the best possible price including a range of food, drink and pet food. It takes up the units 2-4, replacing Ultimate Outdoors which shut after holding a closing down sale in January.
Shop manager Angie Smith said: "Customers can expect everything. We sell everything from groceries to clothing to seasonal right down to laminate flooring, wallpaper, paint, furniture, you name it. A garden centre will be opening in a few weeks but it isn’t quite ready yet.
Opening just before the Easter bank holiday, shop manager Miss Smith added: "Obviously we’re hoping it’s going to be really really busy. Of the location, she said: "I thought we’d be on here a long time ago. I think it was inevitable. When the site came up it was the right move for us."
