Proposals to convert two barns into island holiday homes in Ayrshire have been granted planning permission in principle.
The buildings, at Nether Kirkton Farm in Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae, will be made available as short-term tourist accommodation, subject to conditions.
Luigi Giorgetti, who owns the Golf Road property and lives on site, asked North Ayrshire Council to green light a change of use application.
And planners have ruled the project can go ahead pending full details of the development – including the internal layout of the holiday lets – being provided ahead of work starting.
Mr Giorgetti must also ensure that matters associated with the development meet certain road safety requirements to the local authority's satisfaction.
A decision notice issued earlier this month stated: "The proposed development would provide two additional tourist accommodation units within an established holiday destination and would support the tourism economy of the island.
"They are located close to key attractions in Millport such as the town centre and beach.
"It is not considered likely that the proposal would have any significant amenity implications for neighbouring properties.
"The donor property would potentially have its privacy affected by having two short term holiday lets within such close proximity, however, this would be a matter for owners.
"The proposed development accords with the relevant policies of the local development plan, and there are no other material considerations. It is therefore recommended that planning permission be granted."
