New axe throwing attraction coming to Nottingham's Cornerhouse

An exhilarating new axe throwing venue is due to open at the Cornerhouse in Nottingham.

It will be the second venue for Axed Global, which is hoping to expand across the UK, with the promise of "off the wall axe throwing experiences unlike any other in the country".

Axed Nottingham will have the UK’s only interactive smart lanes with touchscreen technology powering a projected target system.

With a whole host of interactive games and competitions to entertain any group, it’s unlike any other experiences, according to the founders.

Sessions will be hosted by fully trained instructors, with 60 minutes throwing time on a lane.

The contemporary venue, on the second floor of the Cornerhouse in Burton Street, will have a VIP tiered seating area and a bar, serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

But the owners reassured: "Although you strictly cannot drink before you throw, you are able to relax with a drink post-chuck in their casual seating area with a relaxed vibe."

Axed Global opened it's first axe throwing attraction in Lincoln in October 2019.

Co-owner Ben Whitehand said: "Axe Throwing as an industry is rapidly growing in the UK becoming a notable player on the competitive socialising scenes in cities all over the country.

"Our venues provide an experience that’s different to others; the way we run our sessions makes the most of your throwing time, meaning you throw more axes with us than at other venues. Add in our exclusive interactive smart lanes and you have an experience unlike any other.”

Axed Nottingham is set to open in April. An online booking system will be up and running shortly for slots from 2pm during the week and from 10am Friday to Sunday.

Fellow co-owner Tom Owen added: "We are excited to bring Axed Nottingham to the Cornerhouse, it’s such a prime location in the city.

"Nottingham is such a diverse and active city, it deserves to have a venue like Axed Nottingham, so people have a chance to experience how awesome axe throwing is and join a community of enthusiastic throwers."

Axed is one of three new attractions coming to the Cornerhouse. The Mixologist bar and chicken wing supremo Wingstop are also set to open at the leisure complex.

Frankie Labbate, of Box Property, said: "This letting takes the Cornerhouse to full occupancy, Axed are an exciting use and strong operator who both compliment the already eclectic tenant mix in the Cornerhouse but add something new and exciting to this part of the city which I am sure will be well received."

The city's first axe throwing experience Hatchet Harry's opened last November in Lister Gate.
