A new centre for two major UK shops is set to open in a Nottinghamshire town.
The Sainsbury's and Argos Nottingham Fulfilment Centre will open on Lilac Grove, Beeston in April.
The move is part of a new distribution model for Sainsbury's, which bought Argos in 2016, where 32 Local Fulfilment Centres (LFCs) will be created across the UK.
Argos have said that the centres will offer customers Fast Track delivery options to homes and collection points within hours.
An Argos spokesperson said: “We’re opening a Local Fulfilment Centre in Beeston that will help us to bring more Argos products to customers in the local area.
"Known as our Nottingham LFC, it will go live in April and is part of our plan to make Argos a more convenient, digital business.”
Jobs are currently being advertised for roles at the site, one of which specifies there will be more than 20 employees at the new site.
Argos have said that the new centres will help with their 'digital transformation' plan announced in November 2020, which aims to "create a more profitable and simpler business that offers customers greater speed, online availability and conveniently located stores and collection points".
Argos in recent years have closed branches in Bulwell and at Victoria Retail Park in Netherfield.
There has also been uncertainty over the future of their flagship Nottingham store in Lower Parliament Street after student plans for the building moved forward.
Hundreds of Argos branches have now been moved into Sainsbury's supermarkets as a result of standalone store closures.
