New Apple Leak Reveals iPhone 13 Design Shock

Production of Apple’s iPhone 13 range is ahead of schedule and it is set to deliver one of the biggest upgrades in iPhone history (literally). But now a new leak has revealed a design decision no-one saw coming.

A pink iPhone 13 inspired by the new pink iMac is expected to launch before Christmas Peng Phone

Spotted by CNet, Apple is said to be producing an eye-opening pink finish for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Moreover, this somewhat shocking design decision actually makes sense.

Revealed by Peng Phones, it states Apple won’t have pink iPhone 13 models available for launch (tipped to be one month earlier this year) but will instead land in December. Such fractured color options are commonplace for Apple, which historically launched Product(RED) versions of its devices months after their initial release. In April, the company also unveiled a purple iPhone 12, seven months after the phone was first announced.

And yet the real reason for a pink iPhone 13 may be a lot simpler. Last month, Apple announced a redesigned iMac alongside the purple iPhone 12 and it comes in silver, blue, green, yellow and orange finishes along with - yes - purple and pink.

Meanwhile, Apple’s M2 MacBook Air redesign recently leaked with new silver, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple and pink finishes. “The colors featured on the new MacBook Air are very close, if not identical, to the shades that you see on the stands for the new 24-inch iMacs,” claimed popular Apple tipster Jon Prosser.

You can see the pattern here and with the iPhone 12 coming in white, black, blue, green, purple and red finishes, there could be wider color alignment to come.

And yet pink is likely to be the headline addition. Back in 2013, Apple launched a pink iPhone 5C and followed it up with a hugely popular ‘rose gold’ iPhone 6S which was carried forward to the iPhone 7 and iPhone SE before being controversially dropped for regular gold on the iPhone 8. But this year, with pink creeping back into Apple hardware and Samsung receiving praise for its ‘phantom pink’ Galaxy S21, the op-eds are calling for its return

Needless to say, while a pink iPhone 13 is likely to sell like hotcakes, Apple’s new iPhones are bringing a lot more to the table than new colors. The standout upgrade is their supersized new rear cameras, but they are also expected to come with next-gen 5G modems, ’disruptive’ WiFi, MagSafe upgrades, beamforming mics, increased power efficiency (hello battery life), 120Hz ProMotion displays (though Pro Models only) and - at long last - a smaller notch

Combine all this with a pink model dropped just before Christmas? Well played, Apple.
