Apple might rule the roost when it comes to tablets but its hugely popular iPad is facing some more competition. This time, it's Chinese firm HONOR that's taking aim at Apple with the company announcing the UK launch of its new Pad X8 which lands in stores for the ludicrously low price of just £179 - that's less than half the cost of Apple's entry-level iPad which will set you back a less wallet-friendly £369.
HONOR is promising that its Pad X8 tablet should keep pace with your daily digital needs thanks to it featuring a 10.1-inch Full HD display that not only gets skinny bezels but also technology such as eye comfort mode and a whopping 16.7 million colours.
There's also a premium aluminium body with a frosted finish, a powerful audio system and a large battery for all-day usage.
You can even transform it into a Kindle-style eBook thanks to a screen mode that adjusts the contrast, brightness, colour temperature and other parameters to bring you a paper-like book display effect.
The Mirror hasn't had our hands on this device just yet so can't confirm if it's a top-notch tablet but it certainly seems impressive for the price.
If you want to know more about the Pad X8 you can find full details here but HONOR isn't the only firm making cheaper tablets.
Nokia has its T-range of devices that start from around £129 and Samsung also has the popular A-Series gadgets which can be picked up for £199.
Amazon is also a popular choice with the online retailer offering its Fire devices for under £70.
For those who simply can't bare to look at anything other than an iPad, it's worth checking out the firm's newest addition to the range.
The £499 10th Gen iPad was announced late last year and includes a stunning 10.9-inch Liquid Retina screen which now features smaller bezels and no sign of the Touch ID fingerprint scanner.
Instead, there's a fully immersive edge-to-edge display with users now unlocking the device via a sensor on the side-mounted power button.
Along with that better viewing experience, there's also Apple's supremely powerful A14 Bionic chip for faster browsing, working and gaming.
Other upgrades coming to this refreshed device include full 5G data speeds and it's compatible with the Wi-Fi 6 technology which helps improve the reliability and speed of downloads.
Finally, the new iPad Gen 10 is now compatible with Apple's Magic Keyboard case which turns it from a tablet into a mini laptop.
