A new aparthotel for short and long stays will open in Birmingham city centre this autumn.
To be called 'Aparthotel Birmingham', it is being created in the former Royal Angus hotel building, in St Chads Queensway, and will have 161 units to rent, ranging from studios to suites across nine floors. It will have on-site parking and pets will be allowed to stay.
Switch Hospitality Management will run the new aparthotel, becoming the latest to join its portfolio of hotel properties it operates in the city which includes Park Regis in Broad Street.
The 92,000 sq ft Royal Angus building was acquired by Birmingham-based developer and property investor SevenCapital in 2020.
John Angus, managing director of Switch Hospitality Management, said: "From the pre-planning stages of Royal Angus' redevelopment, we were able to offer expert consultation that would both maximise the asset value for SevenCapital while responding to the burgeoning demand for high-quality accommodation in the city centre.
"We pride ourselves on providing best-in-class service that prioritises the needs of both leisure and corporate clients."
Damien Siviter, group managing director of SevenCapital, added: "Aparthotel Birmingham will prove a fantastic asset to the hospitality provision in Birmingham city centre, with very few of this kind currently in operation in its locality.
"We're pleased to have Switch Hospitality Management on board to manage its operations, having established a successful working partnership with them through our Park Regis Hotel and St Martin's Place residential developments. We look forward to the anticipated opening later this year."
