The studio is also behind “HOLT” (a fantasy comedy adventure) and ‘Fantasy Ireland’ which is an Irish animated comedy series set in a fantastical, dysfunctional version of Dublin City where the humorous and the bizarre are part of everyday life.

Fantasy Ireland follows three flatmates living in Rathmines who are flung together to form The Shamz, the new unwitting saviours of Ireland sent to save us from ourselves and more importantly a greedy priest hell-bent on setting us back fifty years.

Igloo Animations specialises in 2D & Mixed Animation for Television & Animated Explanation Videos, and have made explainer videos for the Irish Dairy Board, Ornua, PSG – Communications, Oireachtas Library, SEAI, and more.

Tales from Dún Draoíchta will be full of old Irish folklore, modern adventures and plenty of craic for the entire family over the course of ten episodes.

Each episode takes its inspiration from popular traditional Irish legends, for example, The Children of Lir, Tír na nÓg, and The Salmon of Knowledge.

The series retells them for a modern audience using handcrafted puppets with animated special effects.

A description of the highly anticipated series says: “In every story a character from the town of Dun Draíocht encounters a mythical, magical being and winds up on a wild, hilarious adventure, always ending up with a problem solved and a lesson learnt.”

The series was created, directed, and produced by Trevor Courtney, written by Ciaran Morrison and Mick O’Hara, Marina Carr, Trevor Courtney, and Danny Stack.

Vocal Talent includes Ciara O’Callaghan, Sam McGovern, Liam Carney, and Kathy Rose O’Brien.

The series was funded by Screen Ireland, BAI, Igloo Animations and RTE, with the majority of the episodes written by Ciaran Morrison and Mick O’Hara (Zig & Zag, Podge & Rodge).

You can catch the series from September 13th on RTÉ2 at 12.35pm.
