New 80s style nightclub to take over former cocktail bar in Briggate in Leeds

A brand new "neon and nostalgic" nightclub is opening its doors in Leeds.

Signs for Club Atomic have been spotted in Briggate as the new drinks and dancing hotspot is set to open soon. The owners already have a successful club in Selby, North Yorkshire, which has become popular for brining people lots of 80s nostalgia.

The Leeds venue will be opening in the premises formerly occupied by The Hedonist. The cocktail bar confirmed its closure back in March, with owners explaining that they were planning on focusing on their gin and rum school for the time being, and will be opening a new Hedonist location "when the time is right".

Announcing the news of the closure on social media, a spokesperson for The Hedonist said: "Our doors are closed and we have ceased trading (in this venue at least) forever. We would like to thank all of those who have graced our venue and shared a drink and laugh with us over the years.

"Friendships and relationships have been forged across the bar that will last forever. You know who you are. Its now time for us to move on."

While there is no set opening date for Club Atomic Leeds, the site has had a makeover, and signs have been spotted outside. The Northern Mural Company shared pictures of neon artwork expected to be put up on the walls inside the club, including neon signs reading 'be a sinner with me'.

There are also expected to be atomic fish bowl drinks, atomic cocktails - with names inspired by popular TV shows - Pinky Blinders, Stranger Tings, and Cherry Heist. There will also be 80s-themed nights and UV parties.

A spokesperson for Club Atomic said: "Club Atomic have brought forward a new way to enjoy the night with your friends. A joyful environment with endless options of music and beverages."

They added: "Club Atomic's future plans involve expansion to different areas and increase in venue size. Whilst at a Club Atomic you can enjoy a social media hotspot with your friends.

"When night comes, you will dive into a nostalgic neon themed party with exceptional music and beverages brought to you by high quality friendly staff members."
