New £18million home for Scotland’s cyber security super heroes in Dundee

Scotland’s top cyber security experts have landed a new £18million home in Dundee.

The hi-tech cyberQuarter will be housed at the city’s Abertay University and is due to open fully next month.

The state-of-the-art research and development centre brings together students, academics, and organisations to help solve global cybersecurity challenges.

With a worldwide shortage of cybersecurity skills the university is offering businesses access to new talent, as well as giving real-world experience to students.

This is especially relevant if companies are hoping to recruit Ethical Hacking and Cybersecurity experts.

The centre will be available to work with businesses across all sectors, raising awareness of cybersecurity and developing fit for purpose cybersecurity solutions.

The cyberQuarter will also support the creation of new companies, boost the security and resilience of the Scottish business community and facilitate the creation of new products and services through innovation-led research.

The Scottish Government has committed up to £6 million and the UK Government up to £5.7 million to the project, with Abertay University the other main funder.

The project has been designed by Wellwodd Leslie Architects and is being created by fully renovating the unused upper three floors of Abertay Student Centre, providing office, events and cexperimentation space.

A new café and social space is also being created across the full ground floor of the building, providing a focal point for the campus.
