The Neuron e-scooters have been a feature in Newcastle for two years after first arriving in February of 2021.
But they had already been operating in other cities in the UK, as well as in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
The scooters offer a quick and easy way of getting around the city at an affordable price, and they have only grown in number in the years that have followed.
They have not been without their controversy however, with complaints about them being left blocking public walkways and roads, as well as people riding them unsafely.

Neuron want to address these concerns with the new features that they have introduced, such as specific parking zones that the e-scooter will tell you to park it in, and extra checks from the app on your phone to make sure you are wearing a helmet.
