Nets guard James Harden among All-Star Game reserves

NEW YORK — The Beard is an All-Star once again.

Nets guard James Harden was named an All-Star reserve for the Eastern Conference, the NBA announced Thursday.

It’s Harden’s 10th selection to the mid-season showcase, though he has struggled as of late during the Nets’ winter slide down the conference standings.

Harden is still averaging 22.5 points, 8 assists and 10.2 rebounds for the 29-22 Nets, who currently hold the East’s sixth seed.

Teammate Kevin Durant was earlier named the captain of the East squad.

Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland, Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine, Milwaukee Bucks wing Khris Middleton, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet were also named East reserves.

Durant, Milwaukee Bucks big Giannis Antetokounmpo, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young and Chicago Bulls wing DeMar DeRozan were named East starters in January.

In the Western Conference, Phoenix Suns guards Devin Booker and Chris Paul, Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert and guard Donovan Mitchell, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green and Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns will be reserves.

Los Angeles Lakers forward Lebron James, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins and guard Steph Curry and Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant were previously named starters for the West squad.
