Netherlands vs Argentina: World Cup 2022 prediction, kick off time, TV, live stream, team news, h2h, odds

The Netherlands and Argentina tonight meet in a classic World Cup quarter-final contest in Qatar.

After overcoming the USA and Australia respectively in the last-16, stage and both experiencing scares along the way, a place in the final four awaits the victor as Lionel Messi’s Albiceleste take on a Dutch team that did not even feature at the last tournament.

The Netherlands and Argentina are certainly no strangers at this level. The South Americans were thumped 4-0 in the 1974 second round before securing revenge on home soil in the 1978 final.

A legendary, last-minute Dennis Bergkamp goal secured victory at this stage in 1998 for the Dutch but it was Argentina progressing from a semi-final tie in 2014 as a penalty shootout was required to separate the teams.

Netherlands vs Argentina prediction

This is arguably the first meeting between two great footballing nations at this World Cup’s knockouts. Whether we get a classic, entertaining contest to boot may feel unlikely.

There is an element of the unknown as neither side has come up against a contender for the crown until this moment - and neither has hit top gear.

Argentina have the edge when it comes to talent, and maybe a moment of magic will settle this.
