Netflix viewers spotted what appears to be a swipe from Prince Harry at his brother Prince William over his wife the Princess of Wales in their explosive documentary, dubbing it "cruel".
The first three episodes of the much-anticipated series dropped on the streaming site early this morning and fans were eager to catch a first glimpse of what the couple had to say.
But some were left shocked at a barbed comment Prince Harry made as he spoke about his love for Meghan.
It comes after it was feared that Meghan and Kate Middleton would be "pitted against each other" in the documentary after the trailer showed the Sussexes claiming the Palace and the press treated them "differently" to the Prince and Princess of Wales.
"For so many people in the family, especially the men, there can be a temptation or an urge to marry someone who would fit the mould as opposed to somebody who you are perhaps destined to be with," Prince Harry is heard saying in the documentary.
Eagle-eyed fans jumped on his remark and took to Twitter to comment, with one tweeting: "First swipe - Harry says there’s a temptation for royal men to marry someone who fits the mold. Says he makes decisions from the heart like his mum Diana. #HarryandMeghanNetflix."
While GB News' Dan Wootton wrote: "Obvious and very cruel dig at William and Kate by Harry... #HarryandMeghanNetflix."
Another fumed: "Harry is such a jerk. Criticises/accuses men in his family choosing partners from head, not heart. I suppose that’s why Charles was faithful to Camilla for 30 years before they married eh? Who suffered for love, Haz? Not you. #HarryandMeghanNetflix."
However, others hit back and suggested that Harry had actually been referring to Charles, and that he had been suggesting that his dad should have married Camilla from the start.
One tweeted: "I think it’s gone over your head. If Charles chose heart he would have married Camilla from the start."
Another agreed, commenting: "Surely an observation about Charles being pushed to marry Diana, rather than be with Camilla…?"
Prior to the release, no press previews were available and the trailer was the first glimpse at footage used in the series.
The Royal Family have been warned to brace themselves for their worst nightmare yet, with the Prince of Wales said to have had crisis talks with his father King Charles over the show.
One source in contact with a Netflix production insider told the Mirror: “I genuinely think it’s going to be worse than the royals can imagine.
“I’m told that it’s going to be utterly explosive and will be very damaging.”
It comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were said to have "betrayed the agreement they made with the Queen", according to royal sources.
The couple are believed to have not honoured an agreement made with the late monarch at Sandringham back in January 2020, which was reached shortly before they moved to the United States.
Following the meeting, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex pledged that “everything they do" would "continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty”.
A Palace statement released on behalf of the late Queen at the time also read: “Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family."
However, their loyalty to the Queen and her legacy has been questioned following their string of high-profile attacks on The Firm, including their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last year.
During the explosive interview last year, Meghan made a number of shocking bombshell claims including that she was suicidal during her time in the royal family, accusing her in-laws of being concerned about how dark Archie's skin would be and claiming the Duchess of Cambridge made her cry.
