Netflix viewers in tears over Harry's words about Meghan and Diana

Royal fans have been left in tears from watching the new Prince Harry and Meghan Markle documentary on Netflix. The first three episodes of the six-part series, Harry & Meghan, were released this morning (December 8) with the remainder to drop next week.

According to Netflix, the "unprecedented" docuseries "explores the span of their relationship, from the early days of the couple’s courtship to the challenges and controversies that led them to feeling forced to step back" from their full-time royal roles. It features interviews with the couple and people close to them as well as behind the scenes footage.

In the first episode, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex discussed their relationship over the years, reports DevonLive. Harry also opens up about how his wife reminds him of his late mother Princess Diana and how he wants to protect her and their children.

He said: "So much of what Meghan is, and how she is, is so similar to my mum She has the same compassion, she has the same empathy, she has the same confidence. She has this warmth about her."

He also said: "I accept that there will be people around the world who will fundamentally disagree with what I've done and how I've done it, but I knew that I had to do everything I could to protect my family, especially after what happened to my mum. You know, I didn't want history to repeat itself."

Harry's emotional words struck a chord with some viewers, who shared their thoughts on Twitter. @ebonysmidnights tweeted: "This Harry and Meghan doc is making me cry."

@KimGiorno2 wrote: "I am absolutely sobbing watching this documentary of Harry and Meghan. He speaks of his Mom and protecting his wife and children. Hoping they never have the fate of Diana.

"Just so hits a nerve with me as a mother. I remember what happened in August of 1997 as I was so pregnant."

@Cloebeth91 commented: "Watching the first episode of Harry & Megan and i just find it so sad, like i could cry! The storytelling is compelling." @rhianakashiro added: "Aawww this Megan and Harry show is about to make me cry man".
