Netflix have unveiled an exciting new trailer for the fourth season of Stranger Things.
The popular streaming show - which stars the likes of Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, David Harbour as Jim Hopper and Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler - is returning next month on May 27th for the first half of a bumper size fourth season.
The new trailer begins with a terrifying voice that rings out and says: "You've broken everything - your suffering is almost at an end," before the group are seeing going about their daily school life, trying to fit in.
However, when a supernatural threat comes knocking, Eleven is forced to intervene.
The trailer shows her being quizzed by government officials, who beg her for help as they try and take on the new monsters. Back to her original shaved head, Eleven connects with the Upside Down, as she's told she's "the only thing" that can save them.
Forced to head to the Upside Down, Eleven and her friends must fight the monsters in a bid to keep their friends and family safe, whilst in a separate clip, Hopper is seen alive, being held captive in a foreign country as a prisoner of the Government.
The show's creators, The Duffer Brothers, says the fourth season will be split into two part s - Volume 1, which will premiere on May 27th and that will be followed by a second volume, which will begin airing five weeks later on July 1st.
"It’s been a little while," they wrote in a lengthy open letter, "With nine scripts, over eight-hundred pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, Stranger Things 4 was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one. Everyone involved is incredibly proud of the results, and we can’t wait to share it with you. Given the unprecedented length, and to get it to you as soon as possible, Season 4 will be released in two volumes."
They have also confirmed that next season - the fifth one - will be the last.
"At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four but - as you’ll see for yourselves - we are now hurtling toward our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last," they shared, "There are still be many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things: new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes."
*Stranger Things season four Volume One will premiere on Netflix on May 27th.
