Netflix top 10 shows — here's the 3 worth watching right now

Gymnast Simone Biles mid-jump.

At Tom's Guide, we think Netflix is one of the best streaming services around, thanks to a huge range of shows and movies in its library. And when you're trying to find what to watch next, the Netflix Top 10 shows list can be a handy tool to help make that choice a little easier.

But even then, that list throws up 10 potential shows, and you can't even trust whether what's popular is going to be the right fit for you. So, we've flicked through the list  (as of 5.30 a.m. ET on Friday, July 19, 2024) and picked out the three that we think are most worth watching.

Right now, we'd suggest streaming the final chapter of an action-packed historical drama and another new sporting doc; there's also an entire drama box set starring Bryan Cranston that's worth checking out (and no, it's not "Breaking Bad").

If you don't think any of our picks will be right for you, consider checking out our roundup of everything new to Netflix this month and our list of the best Netflix shows. Otherwise, here are the three shows we think you should stream from the Netflix top 10 list.

'Vikings: Valhalla'

The third and final season of "Vikings: Valhalla" has landed, meaning you can now see how this action-packed historical saga concludes.

A sequel series to the History Channel's "Vikings" drama, "Vikings: Valhalla" takes place a century later, following a new generation of notable Norsefolk who lived towards the end of the Viking Age: explorer Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), Freydís Eiríksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson) and Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).

Despite being the final chapter, season 3 also introduced some important newcomers to the action: Leif and Freydís' father, Erik the Red, and Byzantine general, Maniakes (Florina Munteanu). Taking place seven years on from the previous chapter, season 3 documents Leif and Harald's continued exploits in Constantinople, whilst throwing fresh challenges to Freydís now that she's established herself as the pagan leader of Jomsborg.

'Simone Biles Rising'

"Simone Biles: Rising" is a four-part sports docuseries (the first half of which is now streaming) that follows the renowned U.S. gymnast as she prepares to make a big comeback at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris after her shock withdrawal from the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Directed by Katie Walsh and produced in association with the Olympic Channel, the series follows Biles as she prepares to take her position back at the very top of the sport, balancing her health and mental well-being with her training regime.

'Your Honor'

Unlike the previous two shows above, "Your Honor" isn't a Netflix original. Instead, this series was originally for Showtime and now the entire two-season series is available to stream on Netflix.

"Your Honor" stars Bryan Cranston as Judge Michael Desiato, a New Orleans judge of some tenure. One day, Michael gets a call from his son Adam (Hunter Doohan)saying that he has been involved in a hit-and-run accident, killing another boy. Despite being a member of the legal system, Michael tells Adam to do nothing and say nothing once he finds out that the boy Adam killed is the son of New Orleans mob boss Jimmy Baxter (Michael Stuhlbarg). If you need a new series to binge this week, "Your Honor" is a solid pick.
