Sonic Prime, the upcoming animated series from Netflix, just got its first real teaser. Dominating the box office wasn’t enough for everyone’s favorite hedgehog — he’s coming for streaming platforms now.
On Tuesday, Netflix released sneak-peek footage of Sonic Prime. In the clip, we see Sega’s beloved icon running around at high-speed collecting rings. Shocking, I know. There’s a cheesy one-liner as well, solidifying that animation studio WildBrain knows what the character is all about.
It’s very much a blink and you’ll miss it affair, but fans wouldn’t have it any other way. Check out the Sonic Prime teaser for yourself below.

The tone is undoubtedly reminiscent of Paramount’s live-action Sonic the Hedgehog films, but there’s no continuity between either project. For that, you’ll have to watch Knuckles the Echidna‘s show.
Announced back in February, Sonic Prime is a 24-episode series coming out sometime in 2022. It’ll be for kids, primarily. Though Netflix director of animation Dominic Bazay hints that longtime fans will dig it too.
“Sonic is a beloved character and holds a special place in everyone’s heart including my own,” Bazay said in a press release. “I spent many hours with the blue blur as a kid and it’s a privilege to be able to bring this character everyone knows and loves on a brand new adventure with Netflix — one that a generation of loyal fans and brand new fans around the world can enjoy.”
Sonic has had one solid year, especially with the Sonic Origins collection releasing soon. It’s a shame that there’s still controversy surrounding the delisting of several Sega Genesis entries from digital storefronts, though.
