Comedian Rowan Atkinson is set to make a hilarious return to television screens this summer in the new Netflix series Man vs Bee.
The legendary 67-year-old actor takes on the formidable opponent of a bee in the comedy, which will hit the streaming platform in June.
The comedy will see the Mr Bean star battling a pesky bee while housesitting a luxurious mansion, in a series created by Will Davies and Rowan himself, after the pair worked together on the Johnny English films.
Streaming giant Netflix released a series of first look images ahead of the Man vs Bee debut this summer, which set the stage for a bonkers battle between Rowan and the striped insect.
In the official poster for the nine-part show, Rowan is seen crouching at eye-level with a marble kitchen surface as he wields a threatening spatula at the bee in front of him.
Behind the actor, a pot on the hob is ominously alight as he stares down the pesky bee.
Netflix’s synopsis for Man vs Bee teases that Rowan’s character will suffer a string of Tom and Jerry-style setbacks at the hands - wings? - of the bee.
“Renowned actor and comedian Rowan Atkinson plays a new character in this riotous comedy. A man finds himself at war with a bee while housesitting a luxurious mansion. Who will win, and what irreparable damage will be done in the process?” the synopsis asks.
The series also stars Jing Lusi best known for her roles in Stan Lee's Lucky Man, the 2018 smash hit film Crazy Rich Asians and BAFTA nominated series Gangs of London.
Claudie Blakley, best known for her role as Emma Timmins in the BBC drama series Lark Rise to Candleford, will also be in the cast.
Other cast members include Julian Rhind-Tutt, Greg McHugh, India Fowler and Tom Basden.
Rowan was seen filming the show in Buckinghamshire last summer, adopting a new look with shaggy grey hair.
The show was announced by the streamer a year ago and has been filming in Aylesbury in recent months.
Rowan Atkinson fans can also look forward to his turn in the upcoming Wonka prequel alongside the likes of Timothée Chalamet and Olivia Colman.
The film will follow the chocolatier, who was previously played by Johnny Depp in 2005's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, in the years before he opened up his famous factory.
While Timothée will play the young version of chocolate factory owner Willy Wonka, details of Rowan and Olivia’s roles have not yet been revealed.
