Netflix’s upcoming film on Marilyn Monroe slated after release of trailer

Netflix’s upcoming film on Marilyn Monroe has been slated from its trailer alone.

Cuban actress Ana de Armas depicts the star with what viewers have described as a “thick Spanish accent”, despite spending nine months training to perfect Marilyn’s American drawl.

The Bond star has already warned fans the film, produced by Brad Pitt, is not a biopic, is “not literal” and “not conventional”, so to expect artistic license. Director Andrew Dominik has been scathing of reports that said Ana had to be dubbed to mask her accent.

He says criticisms, however, are “the f***ing audience’s problem” and insists that when it comes out next month “the one thing nobody’s going to complain about is Ana’s performance”.

It doesn’t bode all that well if that’s “the one thing” he doesn’t anticipate criticism for.

Beyoncé

Beyonce has promised to rerecord a track on her new album after her use of a “deeply offensive” word was branded “appalling” by a disability charity.

The star, 40, used an “ableist slur” for spastic cerebral palsy on her new album Renaissance, which shot straight to No1 in the UK midweek charts, and is currently outselling the entire Top5.

The word featured twice in the song, co-written by Drake. The lyrics say: “S***zin’ on that ass, s**z on that ass.”

The track Heated will now have to be rerecorded, after the UK disability charity Scope called the “deeply offensive” term “appalling”.

A spokesman for 40-year-old Beyonce said: “The word, not used intentionally in a harmful manner, will be replaced in the lyrics.”

It comes just weeks after Lizzo, 34, took the same action over the same word in her song GRRRLS.

The singer apologised for using “derogatory language”, and said she was “proud” to make the lyric change.

Lizzo said: “This is the result of me listening and taking action.”

She added: “I’m dedicated to being part of the change I’ve been waiting to see in the world.”

Disability equality charity Scope said: “It’s hard to believe that could have gone unnoticed by Beyonce’s team.”

Big Brother

Big Brother is returning to screens (Getty Images)

Big Brother is watching again.... but it won’t be spying on any celebs.

ITV confirmed last night that the long-running reality TV show would return to screens next year, as the Mirror reported yesterday.

But sources say not to expect the celebrity spin-off that proved popular on Channel 4 and Channel 5, initially at least.

Though as we can all recall, Big Brother could be known to change its mind...

It means the show is likely to stick to the Love Island formula of having unknown personalities – and a couple of celebs’ relatives – mixing together.

ITV’s Paul Mortimer, who commissioned both programmes, says its version of BB will be a “refreshed, contemporary new series... with a brand new look and some additional twists”.

But there will still be live evictions, nominations, a bunch of wannabes locked together for six weeks and pleas for the contestants to not swear. Big Brother really will get back to us...
