Stranger Things has been absent from our lives for three years but the wait is almost over. The Netflix show will be making up for lost time by releasing two volumes.
The long-awaited series was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic but the latest series is being released in the UK this week. The first volume, which lands on Netflix tomorrow (May 27) will feature seven episodes, while the final two episodes will be released in July.
Previous series have seen their episodes run for just short of an hour each, but series four will boast longer episodes. Some episodes will be almost one hour and 40 minutes long

In order to give you a clearer idea, here are the episode runtimes for the first volume:
- Episode 1 – 1 hour 16 minutes
- Episode 2 – 1 hour 15 minutes
- Episode 3 – 1 hour 3 minutes
- Episode 4 – 1 hour 17 minutes
- Episode 5 – 1 hour 14 minutes
- Episode 6 – 1 hour 13 minutes
- Episode 7 – 1 hour 38 minutes
The second volume only features two episodes - episode 8, which is 1 hour and 25 minutes and the finale which is 2 hours and 30 minutes - the length of a modern-day film.
The sci-fi drama stars Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder and Finn Wolfhard. Robert Englund, who played Freddy in the Nightmare on Elm Street films, will feature in the new series.
Reviews for the new season are in and it looks like the series was worth the wait. The Telegraph ’s Chris Bennion, who gave the new season a four-star rating, said: “The latest series of Netflix's hit sci-fi eighties horror-homage is seriously long and almost too self-aware - but it's also irresistible."
The fourth season is set six months after the Battle of Starcourt. Eleven and the Byers have moved to California in order to stay out of danger, but the rest of the gang are still in Indiana trying to navigate the complexities of high school.
Everyone is still recovering from the events that took place six months ago but there is another storm brewing and an even more terrifying nemesis has risen to put everyone’s lives on the line. With Eleven now powerless, who will protect the community?
Stranger Things has one more chapter to go. Netflix has confirmed there will be a fifth and final season. The scripts have already been written but there is no confirmed release date yet.
