Netflix’s Quarterback showed new mic’d-up footage of Patrick Mahomes reacting to his injury in the playoffs

One of the more remarkable parts about the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl run this past season was that they won that championship with a visibly hobbled Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes suffered a high-ankle sprain during the Chiefs’ divisional round matchup with the Jaguars, missed just one drive and threw a key touchdown pass in the second half. At the time of the injury, Mahomes was clearly upset to be hurt. We saw him slam his coat on the sidelines as he pleaded with head coach Andy Reid to stay in the game.

But in the newly released Netflix documentary series, Quarterback, we were treated to an extensive look at what went down as Eric Bieniemy told Mahomes that he was going to need an X-ray. Warning: NSFW language.

Mahomes was asking why he couldn’t just get an X-ray at halftime, but the decision to get it looked at quickly ended up being the right move. Backup quarterback Chad Henne came into the game and led the Chiefs on a touchdown drive.

For the second half, Mahomes battled through the injury despite being limited and finished the game with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

The series, which released on Wednesday, will offer unique access to Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota. Fans are already liking what they’re seeing so far.
