Netflix has struck gold with its “Quarterback” series, which gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at three quarterbacks during the course of a season. The first season followed Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota.
Following the success of the show, there were many Bears fans who were eager about the possibility of Justin Fields being one of the quarterbacks featured on the second season. Peyton Manning confirmed season two is happening. And fans nearly got their wish.
Fields said that Netflix reached out about him participating in the second season of the show, but he declined the offer.
“Having cameras around the building, that might change the vibe of everyone,” he said. “I just want to keep it natural and organic and really just focus on what’s going on in the building.”
But Fields hinted that might not always be the case.
“Maybe down the road, but I don’t see myself in it this year,” he said.
Fields said that he’s watched “Quarterback” and enjoyed the series, especially as it showcased balancing life and football.
Fields previously appeared on the second season of the series “QB1: Beyond the Lights,” which followed him during his senior year of high school.
The Bears were also one of the four teams who could have been forced to participate in HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” but the NFL chose the New York Jets.
It’s clear the Bears want to avoid any and all distractions this season, as they look to rebound following a three-win season.
