Netflix forced to issue warning over racy Obsession scenes after fan complaints

Netflix bosses have had to issue a viewer warning over scenes of nudity on new thriller Obsession after fans were taken aback from just how much was on show.

It comes as viewers gasped about a certain pillow scene involving Richard Armitage, 51, who plays a surgeon called William.

The character is seen embarking on an affair with his son Jay's fiancée Anna, played by Charlie Murphy, and a number of scenes leave little to the imagination.

Despite the series being rates as an 18 by the streaming giants due to its graphic nature, some viewers still weren't quite ready for what was to be shown on the small screen.

Netflix's account in UK and Ireland put a statement on Twitter which playfully jibed: "If you've made the (questionable) decision to watch Obsession with your parents, these are the moments you'll probably want to excuse yourself."

They then tweeted out the exact times people might feel a little but uncomfortable with what they were about to see as the main characters got down and dirty.

The tongue-in-cheek announcement comes after a number of fans took to the social media platform to share their disgust at certain moments in the series.

One in particular scene which left viewers feeling uncomfortable by the BDSM thriller, was when the main characters first met.

Watchers vented their frustration as the chaos ensued, seeing Anna seemingly give sex eyes to her future father-in-law at a Westminster party.

The lead characters then begin on a flirty exchange at the bar, where William pops an olive into her mouth.

Before you know it he becomes, well, obsessed.

Posting on Twitter, one viewer vented: "Are we supposed to believe that he became infatuated after just a few seconds of staring and forced conversation? Is she a witch?"

Lead actor Richard recently confessed to the Daily Mail he doesn't intend to watch the saucy series back.

"I won't be watching," he said. "I don't really like to watch most things I've done and this one was pretty intense... intense in a brilliant way. I'm left with a happy memory of what we did."

He also admitted he didn't expect to be needing to act in his birthday suit at his age but said the story line really intrigued him.

The new Netflix sensation is in fact an adaptation of the erotic novel titled Damage, which has also been made into a film version in 1992, featuring Jeremy Irons and Juliette Binoche.
