Netflix fans fume as Matilda The Musical is missing on streaming service for Irish users

Netflix fans have been left fuming after discovering Matilda the Musical won’t be available to Irish users until next summer.

The onscreen adaptation – starring Dublin teen Alisha Weir – based on the book by Roald Dahl was released in Irish and UK cinemas in November.

While Matilda the Musical did drop in the US and around the world on Christmas Day, the film won’t hit here for months.

Having seen TV adverts heralding Christmas Day as the release date on Netflix, many had planned to settled in and watch it over the festive period but it wasn't to be.

The fanciful flick wasn't made available to Irish or UK users as the move remains in cinemas here. It's expected to land on Netflix next June or July.

One fan wrote: “Matilda being available on Netflix all over the world except the UK and Ireland is honestly one of the biggest jokes of all time.”
