Netflix documentary to show "mind-blowing" fallout following emergence of LIV Golf

PGA Tour star Justin Thomas has revealed Netflix's soon to be released documentary series 'Full Swing' will show cover golf's 'mind-blowing' fallout year following the emergence of LIV Golf. Last week, Netflix dropped the trailer for the highly-anticipated series.

The production is set to follow a similar pattern to the hit Formula 1 show, 'Drive to Survive' and will cover a dramatic season of golf on the PGA Tour. The access-all-areas series could not have come at a more dramatic time in the sport.

As a result the formation of LIV Golf in June split the sport in two, with a number of the PGA Tour's biggest names defecting over to the Saudi-backed series.

Following LIV's inception, the breakaway circuit has been at war with the PGA Tour, and plenty of the drama on and off the course is set to have been captured by the Netflix cameras. One man who is set to feature is Justin Thomas.

Thomas enjoyed plenty of success in 2022, which was topped off by winning his second major title at the PGA Championship. Ahead of its release in February, the American star gave an exciting insight into what fans can expect.

He said: "Maybe [Netflix] just knew something that we didn't. It is mind-blowing when it started at the beginning of the year and the amount of storylines just through players and what they're trying to accomplish.

"I don't think anybody could have been sitting here at this time last year and said what was going to happen. I'm excited to watch and it couldn't have really drawn up a better year or situation as to what happened throughout the course of the year.

Thomas speaks to the camera during the documentary (Netflix)

"It's kind of crazy to say but as a golf fan, I'm excited to watch it. "I know what [footage] I shot, but I don't know what Tony Finau shot, or what Rory [McIlroy] shot. It's going to be interesting and cool. I see these guys and they're standing on the third tee or whatever, but I'm still going to see things that I've never seen.

"Everyone who's a big golf fan will enjoy that side, whereas other people that have maybe never heard of even par before will learn what that is. I think that's what's very unique about it." A number of names on the other side of golf's civil war are also set to be involved, with LIV stars Ian Poulter, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson all featuring in the trailer.
