Nemanja Matic mimics Jose Mourinho in argument with Arsenal fan in Manchester United defeat

Manchester United star Nemanja Matic has gone viral on social media after footage captured him channelling his inner Jose Mourinho during an exchange with Arsenal supporters. Matic started for United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon and was substituted after 77 minutes of the 3-1 defeat.

Shortly after taking his seat on the bench, Matic — who has confirmed he will leave United at the end of this season — was filmed on camera reacting to Arsenal fans who, seemingly, had something to say about the opposition player. Matic had the last word, though, as he emulated his mentor and former manager.

What was said to Matic was not audible on the video clip first uploaded to Instagram, but the Serbian hit back with a comment that drew comparison to an infamous Mourinho moment from 2018 during his time at the United helm.

Mourinho signed Matic for United from Chelsea in 2017 — after they won the Premier League title together in 2015. Similarly to the charismatic Portuguese, departing United midfielder Matic has won three league winners' medals in his career, two of them at Stamford Bridge.

After turning around to engage with Arsenal supporters, Matic showed three fingers to signal his success and said: "Three titles for me. You zero!"

Sound familiar? After suffering a humiliating 3-0 reverse to Tottenham in August 2018, then-United coach Mourinho told reporters: "I won more Premierships alone than the other 19 managers together.

"Three for me and two for them. Respect, respect, respect man."
