Nelson County newspaper editor says community is encouraged by new developments in Crystal Rogers di

New developments in the 2015 disappearance of Crystal Rogers have some Nelson Countians wondering whether they’ll soon have answers in the case – and perhaps, two unsolved shooting deaths. Last week, state police and the FBI searched a northern part of the county and a third man was arrested. Pete Zubaty is the editor of The Kentucky Standard.

“Now it seems there's more pieces of the dominoes following falling in and getting this thing moving. I think, as a general rule, folks in the community are pretty excited about that.”

A year after Rogers disappeared, her father, Tommy Ballard, was shot to death while hunting. There’ve been no reported arrests in the case, but Zubaty said for the first time, the Ballard family had a float in last Thursday’s Christmas parade.

“So that tells me a little bit that they're feeling like, yeah, this time is finally coming.”

Two years before Crystal Rogers vanished, Bardstown Police Officer Jason Ellis was ambushed and shot to death. There’ve been no arrests reported in that case, either.
