Nelly Korda Chases LPGA Record With Strong Performance

Nelly Korda and he caddie walk across the 15th fairway bridge during the second round of the Chevron Championship LPGA golf tournament Friday, April 19, 2024, at The Club at Carlton Woods, in The Wood

Nelly Korda, aiming to tie an LPGA Tour record with her fifth consecutive win, shot a 3-under 69 in the second round of the Chevron Championship, finishing one shot behind leaders Atthaya Thitikul and Jin Hee Im in the year's first major.

Korda, who began the day two shots off the lead, recovered from a tough start with a double bogey on the first hole to finish with six birdies, one bogey, and the double to post 7-under 137.

The top-ranked Korda, seeking her second major after winning the Women's PGA Championship in 2021, could join Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam as the only players to win five consecutive LPGA events.

Korda could join Lopez and Sorenstam with five straight wins.

Woad, missing the ACC Championship with the Seminoles to compete in the tournament, expressed confidence and gratitude for the opportunity.
