Neil Robertson apologises to Mark Selby for unusual mishap during Scottish Open clash

Neil Robertson booked his place in the Scottish Open semi-finals with an impressive 5-2 victory over Mark Selby, but not before he apologised for mistakenly sitting in his opponent's seat.

Robertson has hit a purple patch of form at the Edinburgh tournament and won the opening frame with a huge break of 133. After potting the opening ball of the second frame the Australian returned his seat as Selby returned to the table.

After spending so long at the table the world number four briefly forgot where he was supposed to be seated taking Selby's chair instead of his own.

Robertson quickly realised his error apologising to Selby and causing the crowd to laugh as he walked sheepishly across the table to his take his correct seat. Eurosport commentator Neal Foulds said: "He has got some previous for being a bit scatty has Neil and there's another example."

However, Foulds was impressed with Robertson's start to the match adding: "This is an impressive a start as I've seen from anyone, certainly in this event.”

Despite the mishap, Robertson was in commanding form during the quarter-final taking a 3-0 lead. World number two Selby was able to respond with a 104 to get himself off the mark and then kept the match alive by taking a second frame with another century of 105.

Robertson, who also reached the semi-final of the Northern Ireland Open, was not to be denied wrapping up the following two frames and setting up a semi-final tomorrow evening against Joe O'Connor.

Despite his impressive performances on the table Robertson lost his cool during his 4-1 first round victory against Mark Davis. The Australian yelled at a member of the crowd after they moved while in his eyeline as he attempted to pot a pink.

Robertson turned around and shouted: "Hey, what are you doing?" The referee supported the snooker star and told the fan: "Take a seat please and stay there, thank you!"

The world number four is now the highest ranked player left in the competition as Ronnie O'Sullivan, Judd Trump and now Selby have all been knocked out. Thepchaiya Un-Nooh takes on Gary Wilson in the other semi-final tomorrow with the final on Sunday.
