Neil Lennon shocked by 'awful' Celtic after they offer ‘nothing’ against Rangers

Neil Lennon was in disbelief as he witnessed Celtic get dismantled by Rangers at ease to register their first defeat of the Scottish Premiership season.

Celtic were second best throughout the clash at Ibrox, with Ianis Hagi setting the tone early on before Robin Propper and substitute Danilo rubbed more salt into their rivals wounds in the second half.

The gap between the clubs is now 11 points in Celtic's favour, so Brendan Rodgers' side are still in a strong place despite the setback.

“There was nothing about Celtic today,” Lennon acknowledged.

“It was flat, second best to everything. They conceded so much ground and 24 shots [against] in the game.

"To only have four shots in the game. It's hard to be critical of this team because they've been so good for the last year to 18 months but today it was awful, I have to say. It was really awful.

"As for Rangers, when the expectation is on them they don't produce. When the expectation is off them, ie Europe, against Celtic, ie in cup finals, they really do perform.

"It is the bread and butter games where we have seen in the last week or so that they don't perform.

"Maybe this is the psychological hurdle they have got over and they can kick on but for me it is probably too late for the title."
