Neil Lennon reveals Omonia Nicosia taxi driver greeting as former Celtic boss vows 'I'm not hungry, I'm starving'

Determined Neil Lennon says he's not hungry for success at Omonia Nicosia - he's starving.

And the former Celtic and Hibs boss says he only got as far as the taxi to his hotel before he met an enthusiastic fan.

Lennon is back in work a year after his Parkhead exit and takes over an Omonia side who have disappointed so far this season.

He inherits a team in turmoil with the club hit with seven separate fines on the day of his unveiling - one of which for their fans spitting on an opposition player.

Lennon replaces former Rangers star Henning Berg as manager and speaking at his first press conference he revealed he didn't get far before encountering his first supporter.

When asked if he's met any of the fans yet, he said: "Yes, the taxi driver who brought me here last night. I want to tell the world that I will do everything for the team to be successful."

Lennon has frequently insisted he'd be keen on a job outside of the UK and he says that's a big part of what drew him to Cyprus.

He went on, saying he's more than hungry to bring success to his new team as he gets set to take charge.

"I have a huge motivation to be successful," he added. "I wanted to work outside the UK. It is fantastic that Omonia gave me this opportunity. Football is a spectacle. Victories are important as well as goals and attractive football.

"I want be able to win titles. I'm not hungry, I'm starving for success and I want to bring them to the team. It is my job to motivate the players, to play for the badge and to go as high as we can. And then to rebuild.

"Omonia gives me this opportunity."
