Neil Lennon has paid Omonia Nicosia fans the highest compliment he could muster after guiding Omonia Nicosia to the Cypriot Cup semi-finals – insisting it sounded like a Celtic Park European night.
A 0-0 home draw against AEL Limassol on Wednesday evening was enough to seal the 1-1 away goals aggregate victory for Omonia after Fotios Papoulos' equaliser in the first leg.
The ex Celtic and Hibernian boss is now just two wins away from lifting silverware.
His side join Ethnikos Achna, Anorthosis Famagusta and AEK Larnaca in the semi-finals.
Lennon said: "Well first of all our main objective...we've completed it. To make the semi-finals, so we are now in a very exciting phase of the competition where we know that the other teams who we may face will be good opposition.
"On tonight's performance, I thought the team was magnificent. We created so many chances. I was in disbelief at how we didn't score at least three or four goals this evening because the quality of the chances we created were of a very high standard.
"I also want to pay tribute to our supporters. There may have only been 15 thousand in the stadium but it felt like 60 or 70 thousand tonight. It felt like Celtic Park on a European night."
Lennon replaced former Rangers defender Henning Berg in the Omonia managerial role in March after signing a deal until 2024.
And despite progressing through the quarter final tie with Limassol, he couldn't help but react with contempt at one Cypriot journalist's question on scoring more goals.
He said: "You keep asking me about clean sheets. We keep a clean sheet and now you're asking me if I'm concerned about the lack of goals. You need to make up your mind.
"We could've won the game by half time. You were watching the game. I was watching the game. It was all one way."
